They normally range in price from $200 to $500 depending on the plan and the company. But, you can do it yourself and save.
First, we will look at gas furnaces. You should check for dirt, rust, etc. inside the furnace and clean as necessary. You should also check the vent pipes to make sure they are not blocked and are in good physical condition.You should still have a competent Heating Contractor schedule a technician over to check safety controls and combustion efficiencies. You should clean or replace the air filter. Most newer furnace blower motors do not require oiling. You can check the furnace blower motor for oil ports, if none are present no oil is required. Prepare to replace plastic drain tubing if needed, local hardware stores will sale tubing, make sure you take a sample piece of the old tubing in to match sizing. Finally, you should check your thermostat. If it is not a digital unit, ensure that it is perfectly level and attached firmly to wall. This would be a good time for thermostat replacement. Normally, replacing a mechanical thermostat with a digital unit, will save about 5-10% on the heating bills. |
